Guide to understanding solar water heaters:

Step 1. The Solar Collector absorbs & Sunlight

Heat water with solar water heaters for residential and commercial use that are cost-effective and environmentally friendly. The sun's energy heats the water, minimising reliance on non-renewable energy sources and lowering utility bills.

Step 2. Fluid Circulates through the Solar Collector

The solar collector is filled with non-freezing fluids, such as glycol. As the fluid passes through the collector, it is heated by the sun's energy and absorbs thermal energy from the sun.

Step 3. Fluids Transfer Heat to Water

Heat is transferred from the heated fluid to the storage tank water by a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger allows two fluids at different temperatures to exchange heat without direct contact.

Step 4. Non-Freezing Fluid Circulates Back to Solar Collector

As soon as the sun transmits its heat to the water, the non-freezing fluid returns to the solar collector to be heated by the sun again.

Step 5. Water is stored in an Insulated Tank

Hot water is kept in an insulated tank until needed. Plastic, steel, or lining tanks are common materials used to construct tanks.

Step 6. Backup System Kicks in When Necessary

You can get solar water heaters with a backup system that uses electricity or gas when the sun's not out. This is in places with low sunlight. When the water temperature in the storage tank falls below a predetermined level, the backup mechanism kicks in.

Step 7. Hot Water is Ready for Use

Hot water can be drawn from the top of the tank for use in showers, sinks, or other household or commercial applications. Cold water is introduced at the bottom of the tank to replace the hot water drawn off.
